Ryuji Sakamoto is the first friend you make in Persona 5, a fellow 16-year-old outcast at Shujin Academy. He’s loudmouthed, thoughtless, and has been the recipient of a significant amount of fan hate. I love him.
Persona 5: Royal wasn’t supposed to be released until March 31 in Western territories, but EB Games and JB Hi-Fi have turned around and done everyone a solid by launching the game today.
Persona is a series that has sometimes struggled with homosexuality, like Persona 4’s well-meaning-but-ultimately-busted approach to Kanji’s romance. Persona 5, meanwhile, had a couple of scenes involving a “Scruffy Romantic” and “Beefy Trendsetter” on release that were…yeah.
