This week China-based publisher Perfect World laid off most of Motiga, the developer of the hero shooter Gigantic, and shut down Runic Games, the studio behind the popular action-RPG Torchlight and the recently released puzzle-platformer Hob. Both game developers were based in Seattle.
When I woke up and checked the Classification Board’s website this morning, Torchlight 2 wasn’t a title I expected to see. But it’s there, and it’s got a new publisher to boot.
It’s like watching an intergalactic alien battle where the combatants are, for some reason, bound to each other by tendrils of glowing white light. In reality, it’s a visualisation of Torchlight II‘s development, provided by its creators, Runic Games.
