Microtransactions are certainly nothing new to video games, and they're certainly nothing new to Blizzard. That's the entire model for Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm, after all. But it's not something that's particularly prolific in StarCraft just yet.

So Blizzard is testing the waters, courtesy of a survey. And as part of that survey they've been asking people if they'd pay for new skins or voice packs. Featuring Snoop Dogg or Morgan Freeman.

He's not even 20. But over the last few years, Lee "Life" Seung established himself as one of the world's most dominant StarCraft 2 players.

Life found himself in the spotlight for the wrong reasons earlier this year though when he was taken into custody by the Changwon District Prosecutor's Officer. The Zerg player has since been charged for receiving 70 million won for deliberately throwing two KeSPA Cup matches last year.

It was one of the most heartbreaking experiences. After investing years mucking around on the Aus-1 server for Brood War and years grinding my way up the South East Asian, Korean and North American ladders in Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm killed StarCraft 2 for me.

I simply couldn't play. The physical stress was already a substantial burden. But it was more than that. The game had ceased to be fun. The campaign was less of a joyride too. And the many problems that existed with Wings of Liberty were still present.

But Legacy of the Void has corrected many of those. I'm enjoying myself again. I'm looking forward to matches again, and I'm not the only one.

If you go back a few years the idea of StarCraft 2 going under the radar would have been unfathomable, but that was the situation we found ourselves in last week when Legacy of the Void decided to inhabit Fallout 4's celestial orbit.

Nevertheless, having had some involvement with the franchise as a wee boy, there was no way I was going to let the conclusion of the story go by unnoticed.

With Legacy of the Void and its 3.0 pre-patch, a couple of big changes are coming to the game's interface. The new, revamped UI looks fantastic, but there's some bad news as well: Replays made before the patch will no longer be supported. Aw, crap.
