Horror games strike a balance between player control and dread. Getting chased by a murderer with giant scissors or dealing with legions of zombies is pretty scary. Thankfully, brave speedrunners are here to tackle them for us.

Today Hideo Kojima revealed his newest game, Death Stranding, which stars Norman Reedus. You might wonder, how does Norman Reedus feel about all of this after the saga and cancellation of Silent Hills? Welp.
Video: Hideo Kojima has formed his own independent studio, but we don't know what he's working on yet. Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro was supposed to collaborate with Kojima on Silent Hills, but we all know how that turned out. The two are about to be interviewed by journalist Geoff Keighley and it's being livestreamed.
An impossible space. A vengeful ghost. Eerie silence. P.T. was like nothing we had ever seen before when it was quietly pushed to the PlayStation Store in August of 2014, and when the news came that Silent Hills had been cancelled, we all thought we would never see its like again. However the game has proved an inspiration for a number of indie horror developers, and the latest of these is SadSquare Studio's Visage.
With Silent Hills dead, maybe Allison Road can deliver what P.T. promised. The developers are asking for £250,000 on Kickstarter, over $AU540,000.
The Silent Hills game that Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro were working on won't be happening. And, come tomorrow, Konami's pulling PT -- the super-scary demo used to hype the game -- from the PlayStation Store. So, if you want to experience the only playable slice of Silent Hills ever released, you better grab it soon.
Following yesterday's news that Konami would be pulling Silent Hills teaser P.T. from the PlayStation Store next week, director Guillermo del Toro told the audience at a San Francisco Film Society event that his collaboration with Hideo Kojima is no longer a going concern.
In case you forgot, Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and horror movie maestro Guillermo del Toro are making a new Silent Hill together. If you're not excited/weeping in terror at the prospect, you might actually be one Silent Hill's soulless denizens. Sadly, it's still a long way off. Thank goodness for fan games.
