Felix Mack works at Nightjar, a studio that specialises in, well, it’s hard to describe. You know the animation/footage that plays behind an artist when they’re on stage? Or the menus on a DVD? Or the credits sequence for a video game? Yeah, they do that.
What Sunset Overdrive looked like when it shipped — pretty, colourful, wild — is not what it looked like when development started. The games sport very little art, which is why we never see the early days. Fortunately, Insomniac has given use a glimpse at an unpolished Sunset Overdrive.
There was a time when Kirk and I really weren’t into the often-grating, tonally-annoying Sunset Overdrive. But substance wins over style and, what do you know? We’re both fans now.
