I used to live on a boat. It was a converted World War 2 rescue vessel that sat in an industrial canal, docked at the end of a lot owned by an Irish mobster and his son. I lived a strange little existence there, in a world with its own characters, customs and myths. Even the people who lived with me don't always believe the stories I tell.

Road trips are rad. You cram into a car with your best pals and explore the great unknown. Or a series of traffic-ridden highways en route to a music festival or something. Still, it's the journey, not the destination, that counts, right? I'm glad games like Final Fantasy XV, Overland, and The Flame In The Flood are finally getting it.
We've all heard the story many times now: talented game developers leave their corporate jobs to strike out on their own, turning to Kickstarter in the process. So what makes The Flame in the Flood stand out? Something about BioShock's art director making a modern fancified version of The Oregon Trail, if you ask me.
