Max Out Your Rewards Before Hearthstone’s Journey To Un’Goro Expansion Arrives Next Week

Blizzard’s Hearthstone is about to undergo a monumental shift — first a new expansion, Journey To Un’Goro, containing 135 cards, will hit on April 6 (give or take a day). Secondly, a bunch of Standard-legal cards will rotate into “Wild”, making them unavailable for official tournament play. Before these events happen, you’ll want to make sure you’re maxing out your rewards, including free dust, gold and packs.

We’ve talked about this before, but essentially, Blizzard is rotating some previously “evergreen” cards along with The Grand Tournament, Blackrock Mountain and League Of Explorers, come the Year of the Mammoth.

However, instead of giving players a full refund of arcane dust for disenchanting these cards, the developer will let you keep the cards and refund the dust as soon as the cards are moved to Wild-only.

This means there’s an opportunity for players without these cards — namely Ragnaros and Sylvanas — to craft them beforehand for free. For players who own these cards, perhaps by finding them in packs, you’re getting dust for nothing. For more information, check out our previous post on the topic.

Get Those Daily Login Rewards

As a sort of celebration, Blizzard is offering daily rewards simply for logging into the game. The rewards will stop once the expansion / rotation hits, but for now, you don’t even have to play the game to get these bonuses.

We’re currently halfway through this reward cycle, but you can still earn one Whispers of the Old Gods and two Un’Goro packs, 50 gold and a golden rare from the new set, if you log in each day, starting now (April 2).

Disenchant Rotating Cards

If you don’t play Wild and are hard-up for dust, you always have the option to disenchant cards that will no longer be legal in Standard. True, these cards might prove useful in Tavern Brawls and single-player, however, Blizzard is no longer doing adventure expansions like Naxxramas and One Night In Karazhan, instead adding a few PvE “missions” in each expansion. This means that, outside of Wild, these cards have very little utility.

It’s up to you, but you can probably get away with burning some junk legendary and epic cards, particularly if you want to build a competitive Standard deck post-rotation.

Learn About All The New Cards

OK, so this won’t really reward you with anything, but it helps to know what potentially good cards are coming up. The best resource for this would be Disguised Toast’s Un’Goro guide, which not only has all the expansion cards sorted by class, but important details about the expansion itself.
