They already had a live-action movie and a TV show, so I guess a stage adaptation was only a matter of time. Next month, Sega’s popular video game, Ryu ga Gotoku (龍が如く) — or as it’s better known in the west, Yakuza — will be getting a stage adaptation.
The stage adaptation, which will be showing in Japan, is part of the 10th anniversary celebrations for the series. While details on the plot have not been announced yet, from the list of major characters, it seems likely the play will closely follow the plot of the first game.
So far only the play dates and cast have been announced. Most of the main cast certainly look the part though, personally, it would have been more interesting if the original voice cast, many of whom are TV actors, reprised their roles on stage. It wouldn’t have been too hard, considering that many of the characters in the games are modelled after the voice actors — or in some cases, porn stars. Still, the stage cast will probably do a fine job.
Now the only question that remains is if they will be beating the ever living crap out of each other on stage…
Yakuza the stage play will be showing in Tokyo, Japan, from April 24 to April 29.

I generally hate theatre, but I would totally watch this.
