    Oh lawd yeah!

    Hey, that looks pretty brown!

I loved the Gears 3 beta, it restored my interest into the multiplayer of this series, and i cant wait to play the campaign.

But this trailer disappointed me.... i was expecting something a bit more concise, not alot of cuts...

When I first got a 360 I went into EB to get Gears 1, as number 2 had just been released and I wanted to play them in order.

Imagine my disappointment when I got home and inside the Gears 1 box was a shiny new Gears 2 disc.

Only downside was having to buy another copy of G1 and never having the cover for G2.

Soon sold my 360 due to heat issues, but Gears is the only franchise I really miss.

Looks pretty damn good, but trailers have fooled me before.

Love it. Listening to that album now.

Video games need licensed soundtracks akin to this. In the actual game-play. The best example I can give, as shameful as the artist/songs/game is, are the riffs of Godsmack’s “I Stand Alone” and “Straight Out of Line” played during the Dahaka chase sequences in Prince of Persia - Warrior Within. Incredibly fitting for the on-screen action, as well as being infinitely more interesting than the bog-standard violin/horn/percussion crescendos.

Keeping this on topic, I played the last two Gears games with the TV sound turned down, subtitles up in case I felt like following the "deep in-depth character drama" and my own MP3 playlist going over the top of it with a random rock and punk and electronica mix, with the volume down for the slow moments and blasting for the set-pieces and more involved firefights and encounters. There's only so much overproduced dramatic orchestral drivel I can listen to before the whole game experience is chucked for something less try-hard.

Really all I'm asking for is game soundtracks with instrumentation other than full orchestra. Assassin's Creed 2 is one where strings, synths, voice and guitars come together incredibly well without adding some tunes to the experience overpowering the whole thing. The first two Metroid Primes had similarly awesome electronica enhancing them as well.

Sorry about the essay, but this has been bugging me for too long.
