Papercraft Genius Creates Origami Dragons, Grim Reaper, and More

Paper can be used for a lot of things, including origami — and in ancient Asia, where paper was invented, one netizen has created some amazing paper folding art!

Currently spreading around the Chinese interwebs thanks to folks at China Players (and Sina), these origami creations are the work of one Baidu message board user called 鈬鍢鋃銘鎶.

Altogether they have created more than seventy different origami pieces. Here, we've collected some of the better creations for your viewing pleasure! The level of detail on some of these are incredible.

I wonder if many of these are true origami or whether they "cheated" a little. True origami means folded paper only, without the use of any scissors or glue or tape or anything else to hold it all together. Unfortunately, I can't read Chinese, so I can't tell if they talk about the creation process in the linked boards or not.

If it is true origami, it's impressive.

the image with the bear in it has white glue in the background.

There's glue in the background, newspaper on the table. It's more papercraft than true origami...

"in ancient Asia, where paper was invented, one netizen has created some amazing paper folding art!"

There's so much wrong with that sentence.

      This.

The bear is by Quentin Trollip, and I can assure you, it is pure origami, as are the rest of th models: one paper, no cuts. The gnome with the violin are two squares each: the gnome by Eric Joisel, the violin by Gen Hagiwara. I have diagrams for most of these; what I haven't had is time or materials.
