On Halloween, around a thousand zombies descended on Tokyo Tower. That’s a lot of zombies. The zombies weren’t real zombies (sorry!), but comprised of beauty school students, people who dig dressing as zombies, and former sumo champ Akebono, who also might dig zombie make-up but isn’t a beauty school student. The event was part of a promotion for The Walking Dead‘s new season.

And here are some pics from Twitter:
This is anecdotal, sure, but several of my Japanese friends are really into The Walking Dead, so I guess it has a big enough following to warrant a stunt like this. If it doesn’t, how cool is it to see this many zombies in Tokyo?

I hope that big guy wasn’t just lunging at an innocent person like that.
That would freak me out like all fuck.
Judging from the split second we can see from her reaction…It certainly looks like she was merely a passerby
That big guy is Akebono, one of the most famous sumo wrestlers ever, so in likelihood she knew who it was and laughed it off.
Still totally not cool!
I’ve always wondered if exposure to pop culture could be used as an adequate defence if you killed someone who was pretending to be a zombie. Like you saw them and they tried to do something like that and you thought, as implausible as it is, “Christ, this is it, the Zombie Apocalypse” and killed them.
You wouldn’t even need to use that defence. if they try to do something to you, like biting you, it’s a clear self defence issue.
Some of them look fantastic, while others look like they will be in ‘beauty’ school for some time to come.
The crossed eyed zombie in the second static pic cracks me up.
Why is Patrick in the Zombie Apocalypse?
