Last weekend, over a dozen players met up in GTA Online. They were all in decked out in trucks, jeeps, and other rugged four-wheel vehicles. They had one goal in mind: to cross the entirety of the Los Santos wilderness — rivers, mountains, forests and all.
The rules were simple. The players would go on a cruise spanning the entirety of the map, on a course designed to test the limits of off-road vehicles (the only type of cars allowed on the tour). Throughout the cruise, if a player’s car got wrecked because of the terrain, they wouldn’t be allowed to just respawn a vehicle — they’d have to continue in the passenger seat of someone else’s car. The route contained four pit stops, which is where players would be allowed to repair their vehicles. All together, the tour would take at least two hours of driving.
Yesterday, one of participants of the Off-Road tour posted pictures of the event on Reddit, and the journey looks like it was an amazing one. Coordinating all those people to drive through tough terrain, instead of having it all devolve into mindless shooting? Pretty impressive! So, too, are the pictures. At times, the tour seemed like something straight out of Spintires.
These are but a small selection of the entire course the GTA players ran. Pictures courtesy of Reflexx28 and HodorFirstOfHisHodor:

Though there were casualties along the way, the tour did conclude successfully. Best of all, the tour awarded prizes to different players depending on how they drove, what their car looked like, how helpful they were, and who had the least-battered car. It sounds like the organisers are interested in throwing more of these types of tours too, which is great — it’s always nice to see what the GTA community can do when they come together with a single purpose.

There needs to be more stuff like this. I grew up around 4WDing and love GTA’s freedom to allow me to do such things in game.
Always enjoy reading about these kind of things much like the shenanigans that pop up in Day-Z. Unfortunately for the majority of us any attempts to hold something like this will just be met with some clown blowing everyone up
You could always go crew only session or everyone just enables passive mode.
Simple answer to that is to just make a private session or host a private server. Both GTAV and DayZ have the capacity to do such things.
Well, DayZ you’ve gotta pay to get the private server… and that ain’t cheap.
No you don’t, listen servers are viable and I know people that host them as dedicated through their old desktops.
A quick net search brings up this guide
—And expensive is relevant to your situation, I have seen clans chip in together to get servers running and for roughly $2 a player a month its not that expensive to rent one.—
Ignore the last bit, you are looking at around $70 per month, which for a game server isn’t that high, its probably just as easy to run one on your local connection.
If you want to run anything connected to the main hive, updated regularly and with any type of actual stability, you pay to have it hosted. That’s as trustworthy as running a World of Warcraft server on a pc.
That, by the way, is DayZ Epoch, not standard DayZ which is ‘DayZ Standalone’. DayZ Epoch does not require you to be connected to the main hive, unlike Standalone. It’s still fun but these days, people are transitioning over to DayZ standalone as it becomes more and more stable, filled with things to do etc. Especially after last patch now zombies no longer walk through walls and are actually a challenge.
Yeah, that’s what usually happens, but every now and then something cool happens. Just last night, I was flying round the airport when I noticed a guy in a copter tailing me. I took my stunt plane into the city to fly between some buildings (crashing almost instantly), and when I respawned, he actually landed his helicopter near me, and without a spoken word, I climbed aboard and he dropped me off back at the airport so I could get another plane.
Thats kinda cool!
I must say the most fun I have in GTAO is when me and some friends get together and do silly things other than missions or pvp. Here are some bloopers of our shenanigans 😛 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMAAyExLe88 .
My hobby is to try and cruise around the coast. On the beach. Not in 4×4.
ive been able to do a fair chunk of it but never gotten all the way around. something has always piqued my interest and then i get sidetracked.
Yeah, or I get cocky and wreck my car/bike. But it’s so damn good to just cruise around (with a bit more mental work needed) and rock out to the music.
