Just when you thought you were done killing zombies, they give you…DUNE BUGGIES!!
Today, Dying Light developer Techland finally confirmed that it’s working on a full-blown expansion pack for its surprisingly excellent zombie game. This comes after months of the developer teasing fans about how they were working on supporting Dying Light well into the future with meaty content drops — no doubt because the game was so well-received.
The announcement was still light on details — Techland said that they had more info coming at Gamescom, where a preview will be available. But here are the major takeaways:
- It’s actually being referred to as an “expansion pack,” not just DLC.
- It’s called Dying Light: The Following
- You will be able to drive dune buggies and, by the looks of the screenshot they provided, lean out the top of those same dune buggies to shoot at bad guys. That latter activity probably happens mostly in co-op.
- They are adding a whole new map to the game that is “the same size as all the previous maps from Dying Light combined.”
- It will be available for purchase separately from the main game, but season pass holders will get it for free.
Damn. I wish I knew more about it and could get my hands on the thing already. I didn’t let myself get excited about Dying Light, but after seeing how great it was, I can at least say that The Following sounds awesome.

Count me in!
this will probably be a pretty empty big map designed for driving with roads etc.
Hmm I was waiting for this to get cheap. I guess now I’ll wait for the GOTY edition 😛
in a video that techland released last week it gave a small tease of the buggie and map but also what looked like an MP5 sub machine gun. the buggies had 2 seats on them in a stair arrangement.

Nice! Am glad to hear this as I have already sold my copy of Dying Light.
Hows that going to work if you dont have the game anymore?
He said “copy” of the game. Which mean he probably got another.
I think it just means it has to purchased separately if you don’t have the season pass. I don’t think it’s a standalone expansion.
Oh dammit, I thought they meant it was like a standalone expansion, like Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon & Wolfenstein The Old Blood was.
