Gonzalo “Zer0” Barrios, a Smash Bros. Wii U player so good that he hadn’t lost a tournament in over 50 attempts, finally lost a tournament this weekend.
At the MLG Finals, Zer0 went down 3-2, 3-1 to Nairoby “Nairo” Quezada.
You can see it go down below (the MLG replay embed will hopefully be live soon).

To reiterate: Zer0 had, since 2014, enterered 53 Smash Bros. tournaments, and had won all of them. That’s not 53 individual rounds, that’s 53 entire tournaments.
It’s surely one of the most impressive runs in esports history, so while it’s big news to see it come to an end, it’s also cool seeing the sportsmanship shown by Zer0 in defeat.
Damn! Can’t win them all. Good job @Liquid_Nairo :O

Hope you guys enjoyed watching! It was a ton of fun!
I’m feeling great actually. I tried my best but it wasn’t enough! No shame in that!
