Of course, the home releases of anime programs often look better than the broadcast versions. Anime studios have more time to tweak their art, and they can also make some extra scratch on the Blu-ray.

Previously, Kotaku showed comparisons between the disc releases and the TV originals. And for a while now, YouTube folks have been going further, obsessively comparing the differences. Some changes can seem like minutia, while others are anything but.
Note: These clips below might have spoilers in them. Also TV版 means “TV version”, while BD版 means “Blu-ray version”.
Attack on Titan
Wake Up, Girls!
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
Squid Girl
Tiger & Bunny
Puella Magi Madoka Magica
If you love a certain anime series, it might be worth buying the Blu-ray.

With the AoT comparison video, I consistently preferred the TV versions shading. Especially around the eyes. Of course there were shots where the BD was better, like the aerial view of the crowd… but I have no idea why they changed the facial shading in particular.
