Video: Disney and Kabam are teaming up for Star Wars: Uprising, a Diablo-inspired mobile game that will have a beta in the “coming weeks” for certain territories. It’s set after Return of the Jedi but prior to The Force Awakens, and the full game arrives later this year.

STOP DESTROYING EVERYTHING WE LOVE WITH MOBILE CRAP!
Say what you will about lucasarts and lucasfilm, but they kept the Star Wars license close to their chest, and gave it out sparingly to maintain it’s image.
Welcome to the new Disney era! This is nothing…… They are going to monetise and whore out the franchise to anyone willing to sign a licensing deal. Maybe we’ll get some good games? Who knows, it’s possible. But the brand will be diluted down like crazy.
You mean like all the merchandised crap that came out of the prequels?
Sometimes I wonder if Darth Maul was created as a character just so they could sell more pencil cases and binders.
Oh, hey, I’m not saying they were saints. Of course not. But Disney are a whole other level when it comes to monetisation.
Case in point, Cars is generally regarded as the least well-received Disney/Pixar movie, it was also one of the lowest box-office grossing movies as well. Yet, it was one of the quickest to receive a sequel! Despite it being the poorest movie, it makes them the most money in terms of merchandise of any other Pixar movie.
[As an aside, Cars is my favourite Pixar movie, and the sequel is generally pretty average at best and is a complete cash-in if there ever was one…]
Admittedly I don’t pay all that much attention to these things, but I think Lucasarts basically squandered the franchise. Time will tell how well Disney manage it, but at least they’re doing something with it.
You just made me have the weirdest recollection. I can recall the smell of a Darth Maul binder I got when I was ten. WTF!!!!…..
You had me at star wars and Diablo inspired. Then quickly lost me at mobile game.
Was really excited up the ‘mobile game’ part. Great idea… for a full game
Yes yes y…… NO NO NO.
Trailer looks awesome, Diablo Star Wars I can get behind that, oh it’s a mobile game.
Well I’m out, I wonder how big the pay walls are?
