The bad news is the chances of snagging a Super Nintendo Classic at retail are pretty slim right now, and auction site eBay is probably your best bet if you want it “right now”. The good news? The average price of a SNES Classic on eBay is only $US164 ($209), $US80 ($102) less than the NES Classic in the days after its launch.
Using eBay’s Terapeak sales analytic application, we looked at sales data for the first three days of the NES Classic’s launch, 10 through 12 November 2016. Launched for a mere $US60 ($99 in Australia), the average sales price for a NES Classic Edition on eBay during launch was $US243 ($310), four times suggested retail.
Nearly a year and numerous assurances by Nintendo of continuing stock into 2018 later, the SNES Classic launch is relatively tame in comparison. The $US80 ($119.95 in Australia) retro gaming console sold for an average of $US163 ($208) on eBay over the weekend, or only double the asking price. People are still getting gouged, but not as badly as they could have. Plus, a quick search of the most recent completed sold listings on eBay shows the prices dropping, with selling in the $US120 to $US130 ($153 to $166) range.
Note that these numbers are for items purchased or won via auction, so exorbitant listings that went unsold do not factor into the figures. There are still sellers out there hoping someone will drop $US15,000 ($19,149) on an $US80 ($102) item to help pay for university tuition, but with more than 8000 current active listings for the SNES Classic on the auction site, it shouldn’t come to that.

Opportunistic parasites
As I went in to pick mine up, I saw a guy in the carpark taking a picture of five of them on his bonnet. Asked if he had enough of them 😛
you are way too nice.
Was selling for about $180 on AU eBay when I checked launch day. After seller fees not really worth the time.
Lets all shed a tear for scalpers shall we *cough*
Costco has pallets of the things sitting there. clearly the scalpers forgot to check there.
There’s still some at EB Games website, just picked one up.
