I’m rapidly coming to the conclusion that the only way to get your PC game sold outside offering on Steam — and, more frequently, offering it cheap via Steam sales — is to bundle it up with other titles. Today’s effort covers RTS, Adventure, RPG and… chiptunes?
The Indie Royale Replay Bundle Vol. 1 covers the usual rules for this kind of bundle; there’s a minimum price based on the average (at the time of writing, creeping up towards $US5) and a bonus tier for extra goodies.
The basic package covers Nuclear Dawn (PC/Mac via Steam), Defense Grid: The Awakening (PC via Steam, Desura or DRM-free) with a whole host of DLC, Gemini Rue (PC via Steam, Desura or DRM-free) and finally Soulcaster I and II (PC via Desura or DRM free). Looking around the reviews, they seem like a reasonable bunch, although I’ve not personally played any of them.
The rewards tier is an interesting one; rather than bundle in another game or two, if you spend more than around $US8 (at the time of writing), you also get The 8 Bit Weapon Collection 1998-2012, a collection of 56 chiptune tracks from 8 Bit Weapon and ComputeHer.
I already have way too many indie bundle games sitting waiting to be played. I really shouldn’t… or should I?
