The internet used to be a place for learning. Communication. These days, it’s just about who’s got the biggest library of situation-appropriate gifs. So it’s about time those gifs got their dues!
The .GIFYs are an award that’s being overseen by the editors of a bunch of websites that, well, post a ton of gifs, including Gawker, Tumblr and Buzzfeed.
Voting is open to the public. You can make your vote count across a range of categories (including gif of the year) right here.
UPDATE – OK, so for those who missed it last year, here’s the story about the first gif below. That’s not a cat getting thrown down the stairs.

The first are last one are both brilliant for completely different reasons.
Haha BMO!
C’mon guys, at least loop the ‘coon throwing gif to make it look like he has an unlimited supply and is just tossing them down some stairs forever.
Jessica from Girls’ Generation! and her infamous first pitch, may it live forever as a Gif.
I must see the video of that first gif!
I don’t care if it’s a cat, dog, raccoon or a fricken giraffe; YOU DON’T THROW ANIMALS DOWN STAIRS! Not fucken funny.
If you had clicked the link, the racoon was beating the shit out of his dog, and he says quite clearly that he doesn’t condone violence against animals, he just wanted to get the racoon away from his dog.
A lot of people regard their pets as their children, would you sit idly by and watch a racoon beat the living crap out of your son/daughter? Sure, it’s an animal being thrown down the stairs, but most people would do the same thing. (In fact, most people wouldn’t even touch a racoon in a bad mood. Those things is nasty)
