Batman is no stranger to love. He hugs people and things sometimes. (Usually after something bad happens though.) So Valentine’s Day stuff with the Dark Knight’s likeness on it aren’t necessarily the worst merchandising idea. But these old cards featuring Batman, Robin and their enemies are, honestly, a little freaky.
Found by cartoonist Mark Anderson, the cards feature a Batman in his non-threatening “New Look” mode and were probably part of the rash of quick-hit merchandising that mushroomed when the 1966 TV show became a hit. But, even if you factor in the stilted campiness of that era, they still feel a little off.

That BatCopter one is super creepy. I don’t understand the “hissable” one at all, though.
Maybe a play on the words “kissable”…. but he’s a villain, and villains get hissed at?
I just read it as ‘kissable’. There goes my brain interpolating things it shouldn’t again.
I don’t think my marriage could survive a card as crap as that.
