Uli Kilian once set a world record by solving 100 Rubik’s Cubes while running a marathon at the same time. So he’s smart. And fit. But the smartest thing he’s done might have been building a robot to tap his iPad screen in the middle of the night so that he wakes up to a ton of money in a mediocre free-to-play game. Just look at it. Beautiful, right?
The most annoying thing about most free-to-play games is the way they gate off progression. The worst offenders limit how much you can advance in a session, unless you wait a set amount of time or pay money to get past those barriers. Jurassic Park Builder is one such game but, after playing it a bunch, Kulik decided he wasn’t having any of that. Wired UK has the story on how he made a robotic workaround using an Arduino board, pieces of Lego Technic sets and tinfoil. It’s damned clever and a great way to subvert the annoying manipulation this kind of game foists on players.

I was certain people were doing this in Clash of Clans so you couldn’t attack them (can’t attack a base while they’re active).
After watching a couple youtube doco things I learned that top level players actually pass around their accounts between 2-4 like minded people in the world so the time zones are playing to their advantage….. yeah I know…. talk about overkill SHEEEESH !
Back in BF 2142 the worlds best was ranked No 2 and the No. 1 was 4-5 people who just ran around capping flags and didn’t have all that fantastic stats for the number 1. Massive score though.
Reminds me of the clicker I used to keep me queued for Alterac Valley. 🙂
I had to use the rubber band trick on a controller not too long ago to rack up casino coins overnight in FFXIII-2. Good times.
I did the same with a GB no$ emulator in the pokemon slot casino back in the day, built a lego clamp to hold down the key all night to continuously play slots.
Let’s see.
So many letters to choose from.
I’ll pick Y.

I actually made something similar a year or so ago for a friend who wanted to build up cash in clash of clans. They made an update that forced a logout about two months later!
Hahaha yep, the number one guy was DEFINITELY doing that…. when they introduced that update he stepped down.
I remember using stickytape to hold down the R, X (I think) and C-stick on my Cube controller in a particular part of Viewtiful Joe to rack up points to spend on moves and such, so that it would rack them up while we went out to the shops.
