Dayshot: Scar from The Lion King is one dapper gentleman in Hyung86’s Disney University fanart series. In-universe, he teaches political science, and is a fan of classical music, English literature and… Jeremy Irons films. Of course. Look below for Professor Scar in his full glory, and over here for more from Hyung86.

Not sure why this needed a gif…
Look the license for the gif making software cost a lot so they’ve got to get their monies worth ok?
Wouldn’t it be hilarious if they were getting paid for how many times gif is written in comments?
well most Kotaku articles these days comprise of one sentence and three gifs so maybe this has already happened.

Okay, this is the third time that this artist has enjoyed whatever publicity that comes with being featured on Kotaku, and the third time that you have failed to meet the criteria that you set for this feature.
Even if one was willing to overlook that, the last two times had several pictures based on several different characters. This one has just one – no doubt because Hyung86 hasn’t had enough time to create two since the last Dayshot featured the rest of their most recent artworks just under a fortnight ago! Are we going to get a Dayshot article for every individual piece that Hyung86 puts up?
The artwork itself does not bother me. It is inoffensive and, no doubt to many people, entertaining. I have nothing against Hyung86 whatsoever, and while I’m not an artist myself I respect that a lot of time and effort goes into the creative process. I can honestly say that this is the best looking human fan character based off of the Lion King’s Scar that I’ve ever seen. That’s not the point. The point is that this artwork has nothing to do with games, yet it has been featured three times. For some features a counter-argument could be made along the lines of “oh, but Kotaku is about gaming culture, and gamers like Disney, so they might be interested in fan characters loosely based off Disney characters” (which is entirely possible), but every Dayshot article reminds us that it is clearly meant to be game-related (yes, there were some Lion King games but no effort has been made to link this artwork to those, so it probably doesn’t relate to them in any way).
Next time you go to post the latest Disney fanart from an already very popular artist, could you please hold that thought, search around the internet just a little bit more and give a shout out to somebody who might not be getting a whole lot of attention for their equally nice game-related artwork?
I’m just going to put it out there. US contributer. They will never read your comment, might as well be an old man yelling at a cloud. The problem is Gawker have more subsites than Allure. So a heap of crap that doesn’t belong is crammed into kotaku and Gizmodo in Australia.
The important thing is he is still voiced by Jeremy Irons.
So brilliantly villainous.
