Sorry, PC gamers — Rockstar just announced that they have delayed the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V yet again, this time to April 14. At least heists are coming sooner.
Let’s start with the good news: online heists, which were promised around the launch of Grand Theft Auto Online in late 2013, are finally coming out next month. The online virtual robbery experiences will be available on March 10, Rockstar says. Via Rockstar’s newswire:
Online Heists
We are excited to announce that the launch of Heists for GTA Online is scheduled for March 10th. We know it’s been a wait, and appreciate your patience. Heists will bring a brand new 4-player cooperative gameplay experience to GTA Online, giving players the chance to team up to pull off a string of intense, multi-part raids and robberies across Los Santos and Blaine County. Over the next couple of weeks, we will have more information about the launch of Heists and about other new features that we will release with it.
As for the bad news? It’s time for 2015’s new monthly tradition: GTA V getting delayed on PC.
“Our apologies to PC gamers worldwide who have been counting down the days until the launch of the game, but a bit more time is needed to ensure that the game is as polished as possible, and to make certain that both Heists and the GTA Online experience are ready to roll out on day one for PC,” Rockstar writes. “As a gesture of thanks for your understanding, we will grant anyone who has pre-ordered the game an additional $US200,000 in-game cash for use in GTA Online.”

They can take my money for the third time, whether it releases on pc in April or next year. Love this game. Just sucks I’ll be without internet access for a couple of months right when heists release.
You know you won’t be able to play without an internet connection, right?
“Other requirements: Installation and online play requires log-in to Rockstar Games Social Club (13+) network; internet connection required for activation, online play, and periodic entitlement verification;”
Yeah, thats what I’m saying. It sucks (for me) they are releasing heists now, just when I’m moving and cant get access to the net til I move again.
And yeah, ive been playing GTA Online since it released on 360 and day 1 on x1.
Ahh yep my bad – thought you were saying something else
ffs rockstar stop giving release dates then. announce the pc release date when its gone gold and no sooner. this has become a parody of a bad joke…
Every Game should be like this – wait until its gold like 2 – 4 weeks out from release, then smash marketing (budget permitting) then release a FULL WORKING game.
At least Homeworld today?
Shame for the PC gamers. No amount of in game money is worth the wait imo, in fact I’d prefer it if I didn’t get an easy road to the top by getting free money. If in doubt outsource the port to a third party, but don’t leave your original market that made you a name waiting over a year and a half for a game that console players have long gotten sick of
Still plenty of players on console. Sure some have moved on, but I still see 25+ player lobbies in free roam every time I play.
Important to note if you’ve preordered via Steam & are now having second thoughts about this impending disaster of a release:
Go to your Steam Account Page -> Store Transactions -> click the “Refund an item” link next to GTAV.
200k is almost full performance upgrades on one car, even with the 500k preorder bonus it gets you a nice 10 car garage and appartment slightly earlier at best, far from an easy road to the top.
(And the console population is still going strong and irrelevant to the PC’s waiting player base)
I wouldn’t say irrelevant, it’s an indicator of how long the average gamer can play GTAO before getting bored and moving on. Most of my friends gave up a couple of months after release when Heists were obvioulsy not coming out any time soon.
Does anyone actually believe heists are coming at all anymore?
I believe they’re coming at this point, but it’s way too late. I stopped caring (and playing) long ago.
It’s currently 513 days after GTA Online was released.

I’ll cop the further delay without complaint.
If they release and it isn’t polished and optimised properly though….
eh, I can wait.. for a steam special on it. Bought the game for $6 on PS4 and barely played it for an hour 🙁 Made me miss San Andreas on the PS2
Oh yay….
well… at least the release doesn’t clash with Bloodborne now.
Just say it is coming in November, take the heat from the whiners, and then when you deliver it in June everyone will be all ‘Yay, it’s early’.
Games Industry, try this:
Under promise then over deliver.
Wolfenstein!
Aaaand that just killed my remaining desire to pick it up when it launches. I was incredibly hyped for this game when it came out, was super excited for the next-gen release because it would mean I could see my PC do it even better and now being forced to wait longer and longer has taken me from a 100% purchase + DLC to a 90% likelihood of buying it to 50% and now I’m back to pretty much nothing.
Only thing which is going to see me buy this game is if it gets reduced to below $10 or if a large group of my friends decide to buy it & at this stage that’s also looking unlikely.
I’m aware that Rock* have always put at least 6 months in between console & pc release for their games for “tweaking” purposes AKA maximizing console sales to protect against PC piracy however this circumstance is simply ridiculous. The only excuse for this delay is because heists are being released for console editions & they’re trying to eke out a few more console sales before the PC release & this delay is only going to harm their sales figures much more than piracy will.
Or optimization for the millions of different pc builds that can run it.
This game is already a year old, they are still charging a premium price for it and now its delayed……again. does anyone else remember the abortion that is GTA4 on pc? Its pretty obvious that rockstar dont gove a flying fuck about pc gamers anymore
Taking all bets for a June 30th release.
A little disappointed, but hey, its going to be AWESOME!
Anyone that really is a fan ofGTA would have purchased this on console by now.
Unless, you know, they don’t have a console. Or they prefer to wait rather than compromise on quality.
I played it on PS3 but PC is my platform of choice so when the next gen versions were announced I traded in my PS3 copy while I waited for the PC version… and waited… and waited… and waited…
I am over buying this game. Its old now.
