Bungie’s Destiny, the first game the studio have worked on since they walked away from the Halo franchise, is coming to all kinds of home consoles, but for some reason, it’s yet to be announced for the PC.
Which, considering it’s part-shooter, part-MMO, is weird.
Don’t get too bummed out, though, PC gamers: for within the farcical boundaries of video game PR talk, Bungie’s senior writer Eric Osborne has told IGN “We haven’t said yes, and we haven’t said no
“The more platforms we take on, the more work it ultimately becomes, and what we don’t want is to compromise the core experience on any platforms. We have a lot of people who play on PCs. We have a lot of appetite to build that experience. We haven’t announced it yet, but we’re looking forward to talking more about that kind of stuff in the future.”
If Google Translate had a “video game marketing” language, that last sentence would normally come out saying “yeah, a PC version is coming, we’ll just announce it later”. It’s not a guarantee, of course, but it’s a lot better than a “no” or “probably not”.

Probably also translates to “dodgy console port”.
Only slightly related, but when was the last time Bungie made a PC game anyway? About 10 years ago?
EDIT – and to answer myself, it was only 6 years ago when Halo 2 came out for PC.
Given that the Xbox One and PS4 are using standard x86 architecture the PC port should be on par with those versions.
Halo 2 was actually ported by an MS subsidiary http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_2#Windows_version
To be honest, while it may be a dodgy console port, the good news is they’re not rushing out a dodgy console port… IF they do decide to do a port to PC it will hopefully mean they will actually put some effort into it. Realistically though it’ll be auctioned off to the lowest bidder to port by Activision, but again… it’s good news that that isn’t the current plan.
What about WiiU?
hehe
I was reading an interview about Destiny in game informer, where they were asked about a PC port. Rather than the normal stuff about drivers etc., they actually said something about not having the necessary expertise in-house to balance the game for keyboard and mouse. They went as far as to say: ‘we make games for control pads’ or something to that effect.
The would be somewhat shooting themselves in the foot if it didn’t come to PC as well. PS4 and Xboxone will have a good initial following, but not to the extent they will need to recoup their costs for a project like this. Bungie make good games in some peoples eyes, and have been limited to xbox, they need to expand to all platforms, imo.
DAMN YOU KOTAKU, STOP USING HEADLINES TO TOY WITH MY HEART
We already did all of this interprety talk back when they made their first announcement!
Finally a reason to start caring about this thing. Is it just basically like Planetside 2 but with NPCs/monsters to fight against and quests? ‘Cuz that’s what I gathered from the tiny snippets I’ve seen about it.
A cross platform half-mmo half-shooter whose PC version feels like a console port ? Defiance.
Trion stretched themselves a bit thin releasing 3 versions at the same time (xbox, ps3, pc). Strange thing while the PC version was the one tested the most in alpha / beta to get gameplay etc sorted out… xbox and ps3 were techincally the most buggy on release… yet the version with the most player complaints about “non-bug” issues was the PC version having a terrible console UI and the terrible voice / text chat.
A PC console port is not bad… as long as they redo the UI, Voice, Chat System 😛
If I recall correctly, the original statement regarding Destiny on PC was a ridiculous and highly criticised “people don’t play shooters on the PC” or something equally as stupid.
Destiny on PC would be epic.
Hopefully they get cross platform multi player sorted too so there are always plenty of people online.
I certainly hope so
