Looks like the HD version of GTA San Andreas has been blown out of the water. Thanks, mods!
What you’re looking at above is a screenshot of 2004’s San Andreas, tweaked for better graphical output. Over at the GTA Forums, a few players have shared screenshots of the ways they are keeping this classic alive in 2016, and the results are stunning. Here’s a closer look.

Amazing, right? They have even imported GTA V characters! Now, for comparison’s sake, here’s what GTA San Andreas looks like without mods:
Kind of unbelievable that these are even the same game, but hey, that’s mods for you.

It’s sharper and clearer but still real flat and a bit sparse. If they are able to tackle that, it would make it look much better.
I wonder what happened to that project where they were going to port San Andreas into the RAGE engine, they released a beta but it was still quite buggy.
I believe that 2nd pic of stock SA with the shiny police car, is from android/mobile version.
This surprises me, not because its been 11 yrs but because gta sa is hands down the worst (main) gta game released.
