The Week In Games

Just three major new release this week. And they couldn’t be in greater contrast.

There’s the hardcore fighting of Battle Fantasia for 360 and PS3. There’s the pick-up-and-play accessibility of EA’s Grand Slam Tennis for Wii. Then there’s the gritty, stylised violence of Activision’s Prototype for 360, PS3 and PC.

Any of them take your fancy?

New releases for the w/c June 8:

Battle Fantasia (360, PS3)
What Is it? Hardcore, magic-based one-on-one fighting game from the creators of Guilty Gear.
Should You Care? Not in the class of Street Fighter IV, but a really solid brawler nonetheless.

EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis (Wii)
What Is it? John McEnroe endorses this MotionPlus supported tennis game.
Should You Care? Early word suggests Virtua Tennis 2009 is the superior tennis game for Wii.

Prototype (360, PS3, PC)
What Is it? Open world adventure with some brutal, bloody combat from the developer of the Hulk and Scarface.
Should You Care? If inFamous didn’t sate your sandbox appetite – or if you don’t have a PS3 – then you should check this out.
