Censorship Has Never Looked So Good

The Chinese government dictates what can and can't be shown in overhead photographs. This is bad news for Google Maps, which continues to have run-ins with the Mainland. No worries, there is a solution. A beautiful one.

This is Baidu, a Sim City-style map site for China. An overhead view of the country is reproduced in game-like graphics, but with sensitive images removed. Like Google Maps, folks can get directions and check out the landscape — the pixelated landscape.
