Earlier this year retail giant GameStop and newly created Virgin Gaming announced a partnership that would power online video game tournaments. Gamers who purchased specific games at GameStop could join tournaments through Virgin Gaming registration.
“Battle of the Gridiron” was announced today as the inaugural tournament. Anyone who pre-orders or purchases Madden NFL 12 from GameStop can register with Virgin Gaming between August 30 and September 18 to compete in the competition.
The tournament itself kicks off on September 11 and runs through to October 16. If bragging rights as king of the gridiron aren’t enough, four grand prize winners will receive a trip to LA and the $US5000 entry into the EA Sports Madden NFL 12 Challenge Series final with a chance at up to a million dollars in prizing. Not to mention four runners up get a trip to LA to watch the EA Sports Madden NFL 12 Challenge Series. There’s also plenty of Virgin Gaming credit to be earned too, so you better start practicing those audibles now.
