Good News! $100 Need For Speed Car On Sale For Just $75!

Need for Speed World introduced its first “premium elite” car and, yeah, based on the sticker price, we’d say it qualifies. The Koenigsegg CCX Elite Edition is on sale in the in-game store for $US100. But wait! If you act now, you can get this car for only $US75! They’ll even throw in a passenger-side floormat (I think.)

EA announced the item’s availability on Wednesday; Need for Speed World is the free-to-play PC racer that launched last year but, as you can surmise, that doesn’t mean everything is free. EA’s gotta make its money back somehow, and it looks like selling vanity items to whales is one way to do it.

It’s possible, of course, to play that game without the Koenigsegg CCX Elite Edition, but I’m not sure what the standard rides are. The game is set in Rockport from Need for Speed: Most Wanted (which was, in fairness, a great entry in this series) and the Palmont city streets from Need for Speed: Carbon.

EA rolls out $US100 car for Need for Speed World [GameSpot]

    • I wonder if the appeal is supposed to be “You can drive this awesome car!”

“Pay an excessive amount for a car, then smash it up, with no permanent consequences!”

      • OR “FFS, you’ll pay for a stupid hat which does nothing, so why wouldn’t you pay this much for one of THESE babies!?”

        • or buy a monocle that adds a little “pip. pip. cheerio!!!! do you have grey puppon.” and “I disagree” drive byes.”to your character .

  • Please give us sales stats on this, and also email addresses of customers. I’ve got a few things I’d like to try to sell them! 😛

  • …and now I’m aware of a game that had passed me by and am interested in playing it for it’s free content. I’m sure this will happen heaps and some of these new players will buy the $0.99 cars.

    So….good work EA marketing!

  • Problem is, with NFS World, most of the stats and cars are broken. I can be easily beaten by a Nissan Silvia, while I’m driving my Dodge Viper SRT10. Hell my Dodge has been beaten by a Volkwagen GOLF MK1 GTI.

I think those who purchase this will be sorely disappointed, as most of the higher end cars they’ve added into this game, are no better than Tier 1 cars that you can buy with in-game cash….

    • Sorry mate, but you obviously know absolutely nothing about NFSW. The stats in this game are not broken. The developers of the game have stated various times that once the cars are modded they level out in performance, meaning Tier 1 cars actually stand a decent chance against Tier 2 or 3 cars. The reason they’ve done this is so you don’t just abandon your Tier 1 car when you finally get a Tier 2 or 3 one.
