Two Comics That End At Beginnings This Week

It’s time to have a look at some new and incoming comics that are worth our attention. Be sure to chime in with the books you’ll be picking up or that you think everybody should be reading in the comments.

The Incredible Hulk #13
I’ve really enjoyed Jason Aaron’s ornery run on Marvel Comics’ angriest superhero for the way it’s reversed the character’s status quo. The title’s had Hulk at war with Banner, sometimes within the same body. This last storyline has seen Hulk trying to stay angry so Banner’s personality doesn’t reassert itself and I’m looking forward to seeing where Aaron leaves the characters’ relationship for Mark Waid to follow up on.

The Shade #12
Honestly, I’m just glad this left-of-centre series by James Robinson is getting its final issue out the door. Like its titular character, The Shade has been an un-superhero type of comic, filled with gothic motifs, family melodrama and a literary affectation that’s made it unlike most anything else on the stands. If you’re the least bit intrigued, hunt down those back issues. There’s no guarantee that a book this idiosyncratic will be getting trade paperback collections.
