We Have a Winner For ‘Craziest DLC of the Year’

And the award goes, surprisingly, to a Paradox strategy game for the PC, with the announcement yesterday of Crusader Kings II’s “Sunset Invasion” DLC.

Here’s the official brief:

In the latest DLC for the critically-acclaimed strategy/RPG Crusader Kings II, Paradox Interactive and Paradox Development Studios pose the question – what would have happened if the Aztecs invaded 13th Century Europe?

I’ll be honest: it’s a question I’ve never asked myself, but to their credit Paradox are going all out with the idea, introducing the Aztecs as, basically, a Mongol Horde to threaten the Western European powers, who can normally sit out the regular game’s Mongol invasion with impunity.

The Aztecs will bring new units, new culture, new religion, human sacrifice and even, turning even more tables on human history, their own plagues and diseases.

Sunset Invasion will be out on PC on November 15. It’ll cost $5.
