Your Next Phone Could Be More Powerful Than A PS3

In 2005 and 2006, the Xbox 360 and PS3 were cutting-edge pieces of consumer electronics, finely tuned to deliver a premium gaming performance with the very latest technology inside. As is the way with technology though, as components mature, they get smaller and cheaper, so it’s not too bit a surprise to hear Nvidia saying the next generation of mobile phones will “outperformthe current generation of consoles.

“The PS3 and Xbox 360 are barely more powerful than mobile devices”, Bit-Tech reports Nvidia’s Senior Vice President of Content & Technology Tony Tamasi as saying. “The next click of mobile phones will outperform [them].”

So by this time next year, or at the latest the year after that, as companies like Samsung are announcing phones like the Galaxy S 5, we should start seeing this level of visuals in action. The games will probably still be ruined by touch-screen controls, of course, but hey, at least they’ll look nicer.
