Do you have children? Do you like money? If you answer yes to both of these questions you may want to blindfold your kidlets and take your family to an abandoned mineshaft for the next week or so. Skylanders is out this week and it will have no mercy. Your hard-earned dollars are at risk good people. Don’t say you weren’t warned.
Bad Hotel (PC)
What is it? A weird little tower-defense game that integrates music and has Wu-Tang clan references. SOUNDS LIKE MY DREAM GAME.
Should You Care? I actually legitimately love games that integrate music into mechanics. Also I love the Wu-Tang Clan. I’m seriously thinking of checking this out.
Eleusis (PC)
What is it? An indie first person adventure game set in Greece. This was a greenlit game and it looks quite weird and interesting.
Should You Care? I like adventure games, but this is the first I’m hearing of this game which makes me wonder why?
Goodbye Deponia (PC)
What is it? It’s an adventure game! We’re getting a lot of these recently. This is a good thing.
Should You Care? This is a good egge by all accounts. A very good egg. Like a really nicely poached egg with hollandaise sauce.
Moshi Monsters: Katsuma Unleashed (DS/3DS)
What is it? I don’t know a lot about this series. This is a 2D scroller and it’s aimed at a younger audience.
Should You Care? I think you can probably skip this one.
Pool Nation (PC)
What is it? This is a pool game. Like the sport of pool. No wait! Guys, come back!
Should You Care? I used to love snooker games when I was younger, I actually think I would love to play a game about pool!
Skylanders Swap Force (360/PS3/Wii)
What is it? It’s Skylanders. Adults with children, prepare for destitution.
Should You Care? It’s Skylanders. It’s good. It’s good at siphoning dollar bills directly from your wallet into the tills of registers across the country.
Sonic: Lost World (Wii U/3DS)
What is it? It’s the Sonic game that’s exclusive to Nintendo.
Should You Care? This runs at 1080p/60 frames per second on the Wii U. This is almost enough for me to just buy it and play it regardless of how good or bad it is.
The Stanley Parable (PC)
What is it? This game just looks soooo indie it’s beyond belief. It’s a first person exploration game.
Should You Care? I’m intrigued, mostly by the description on the steam page that says “You will have a choice, you will have no choice. The game will end, the game will never end.” WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?
Talisman Digital Edition (PC)
What is it? Video game version of the board game.
Should You Care? I always think that, in these cases, it’s best to just play the board game.
Tetrobot and Co. (PC)
What is it? A super pure puzzler that involves using blocks and the like.
Should You Care? I think this looks pretty swell, but I really love unique puzzlers. Your mileage may vary.

If you’ve answered Yes to both those questions you’ve gone wrong somewhere along the line.
I played some Skylanders for the first time last week with my Nephew, i have to say it’s pretty nifty and a lot of fun co-op.
Yeah, I picked up Spyro’s Adventure and some additional characters. I probably have most of em now! Pretty fun, for the hour that I played with gf.
I ran the numbers for the new Skylanders and got to 4 figures to get everything. Ouch.
At least they’ve already announced next gen releases. I wonder if there’ll be any ‘upgrade’ style packages made available?
That’s why if you’re late to the game, collect 1 generation behind. Start at Giants now and you’ll pay 5 dollars per figure and around 10 for a giant. You’ll only hit 4 figures if you dont hunt for deals.
Trouble is, if you wait too long, you won’t be able to find some figures in stores and you will be forced to pay exorbitant Ebay prices.
Very true. I just paid 25 for my kids birthday present. A limited edition Dino-Rang for Skylanders Spyros Adventure. Worth it though to see him happy 🙂
Yeah, as already covered, if you want everything, you need to get it on release. You want excess stock that’s being offloaded for cheap, go one generation behind. Expensive for completionists.
EB is actually a GREAT source for Skylanders. They have a buttload of 2nd hand figures. Local sites like gumtree you should be able to hit up for them as well, in no way as expensive as ebay. Ebays gone from good bargains to just another shopfront in under 10 years.
Those reduced price sales that Target and Big W have are usually good to round out the collections, but there are always some expensive moments. The ones that come out at launch seem to stick around forever and get cheap, wheras the later release (such as hot dog and ninjini) seemed to be much harder to find as it is only the addicts trying to get their skylanders fix…… I am holding the kids out for an xbox one version (Reasons to buy a new console – I had to get one for the kids)….. there may be much complaining in the next few weeks.
Target and Kmart have a BUTTLOAD of the limited edition Scarlette Ninjini believe it or not. I seriously could not believe how many. They’re practically lining the cupboards. We grabbed one for good measure, but I do know what you’re saying. Ghost Roaster is nigh on impossible to get and ranks in the hundreds of dollars for some reason now.
Is this ye olde englishe? ^_-Also, as a side note, Dragon’s Crown digital release is this week as well on PSN. It’s a must get for anyone who liked Golden Axe, D&D: Shadows Over Mystara or other games of that ilk. If you’re a Vanillaware fan then it’s also another strong entry in their game collection.
Steam Train did a good video on the demo of The Stanley Parable. Mainly because the game actually called the two players out in game and even cursed one of them out at one point.
If Sonic and Bayonetta 2 are good I may cave and get a Wii U.
