‘Gritty’ isn’t a word I normally associate with Mario, but you know what? Polaris makes it work here.
This more mature take on Super Mario comes from screenwriter Evan Daugherty, who is also behind the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Oh, and ‘The Addict’ isn’t the only video he’s helped create — there’s also ‘The Fixer,’ which focuses on Mario.
But honestly, the Luigi character is much more interesting than the Mario one. I’m not just saying that because it’s the Year of Luigi either: these videos actually make Mario and Luigi’s relationship seem interesting.
You can look forward to a couple more videos in this series, focusing on other characters in the franchise. Hopefully they’ll have more Luigi in them.
