The Costume Editor Is My Favourite Time-Waster In Lightning Returns

Sure Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII has great gameplay and fun musical quirks, but let's be serious: We don't care about that. We're all here just because we want to dress up Lightning in awesome costumes.

There are dozens of unlockable costumes in Lightning Returns to choose from -- many of these being inspired by the outfits of past Final Fantasy series characters. Each of these can be altered to be any colour you wish. Then there are the myriad of decorations you can add to the costumes to further customise Lightning's appearance. And to top it off, we have the game's weapons and shields which can truly make or break her ensemble!

To see how all this comes together, check out the video above where I walk you through the costume customisation editor in detail.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII was released on November 21, 2013, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Japan. It will be released in Australia on February 13, 2014.

Has anybody seen that video by Egoraptor about character creation for Saints Row? Yeah, that's the only thing that will happen to this game.

Given that Lightning underwent breast enhancement surgery between games, that's probably what the devs planned to happen all along.

Didn't the creator or director say he wanted people to cosplay as Lightning?

and then created that ending that shows Lightning living in France so that he could pretend that she lives out there somewhere?

I wish to god Richard would stop posting Lightning Returns stuff. I'm so keen for this game and these articles are not making the wait any easier.

I'm really confused as to why so many costumes are being created. If each one has it's own set of stats and bonuses, that means you will never use most of them because they won't give you any meaningful benefit in terms of gameplay and may actually be to your detriment. If though, the bonuses aren't that meaningful such that wearing or not wearing a costume doesn't affect the gameplay that much, then it's pretty pointless having abilities and bonuses linked to them...
