Mario Kart 8’s 200cc Mode Looks Kinda Awesome

When Nintendo announced the new 200cc mode for Mario Kart 8 a huge part of me assumed it was an April Fools’ joke.

But it isn’t. It’s real. And I’m pretty excited about it.

Mario Kart 8 was already a brilliant video game. Depending on who you ask, it might have been the best game of 2014. This 200cc mode is genius: it extends the life of the game and it has that ‘wow’ factor. It’s the kind of thing I dreamed about as an 11-year-old Super Mario Kart prodigy.

“Yeah, sure, there’s a 150cc mode. BUT WHAT IF THERE WAS A 200cc MODE?”

[gasps of awe]

The clip above is a good example of how the new mode will look and play. My gut feeling is that everything is just gonna be a little more unforgiving at the extra speed.

On another note: I really want a new F-Zero game. When is Nintendo gonna pull their collective finger out on that one?
