World’s Largest LEGO Millenium Falcon Built In Melbourne

See, Star Wars day (May the fourth) isn’t all about terrible Facebook status updates and tweets. It can occasionally be about something actually cool. Like a massive Millenium Falcon built out of LEGO.

That’s essentially what happened in Melbourne over the weekend. Father and son LEGO Master Builder duo, Dan and Chris Steininger flew in to create two separate LEGO sculptures: a pair of Tie Fighters alongside a massive Millenium Falcon. The Tie Fighters were created from 80,000 LEGO bricks. That’s a lot of LEGO.

Apparently the Millenium Falcon was a bit of a unique creation.

“This model was ground-breaking for LEGO because of the way it stretches out wide. Normally when we build big LEGO builds they stand tall,” explained Dan Steininger, “so this was both an exciting and challenging experience for Chris and myself.”

It actually looks fantastic. If you want to see it in person head to Westfield Southland. It’ll be on display until May 10.
