Microsoft’s revealed what games Xbox Live Gold owners will get access to next month. As a bonus, it’s been juuust long enough for someone to convince themselves that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development.
Remember, though Microsoft advertises these as “free” games, you need an active Xbox Live Gold subscription to play them. If the subscription lapses, you can still play games you’ve already downloaded. If you’re playing on Xbox One, you also get access to the Xbox 360 games, thanks to backwards compatibility.
Here’s the full lineup for next month:
Xbox One
- Warriors Orochi Ultimate 3 (August 1-31)
- WWE 2K16 (August 16-September 15)
Xbox 360
- Spelunky (August 1-15)
- Beyond Good & Evil HD (August 16-31)

I haven’t played a wrestling game in like 8 years. All the nostalgia is already flowing through me.
EDIT: Also, I’ve heard nothing but good things about Spelunky and it’s backwards compatible so that’s neat.
Spelunky is close to platform gaming perfection if you’re into that sort of thing, the constant risk vs reward present in every aspect of the game is so well tuned that I find myself taking on the daily challenge every day to see how well I can do against everyone else. Sometimes twice a day if I fire up my PC as well.
Yep it is great. Along with Binding of Isaac Rebirth, it is one of my go to games whenever I have a short moment to play something. One of those games I will never uninstall.
Never played Beyong Good and Evil. So excited. Will check out spelunky too even if its not my cup of tea. Same goes for WWE. Does it have local multiplayer?
Going to boot up my housemate’s Xbox One for the first time this year to play these games. Literally the only game that it has been used for has been the Master Chief Collection, the rest of the time we’ve been playing my PS4 instead.
Your information is incorrect.. These games are bought and forever part of your account. You can download them again reguardless if your live is up – as long as you took up the offer.
You only need Live to get them for free.
