Modder Brings Unreal Tournament's Best Map To Counter-Strike

Welcome back to 1999, a year when phones were bigger, jeans and cars were the same size (as each other), and men larger than phones or jeans or cars were prancing around in outer space.

Facing Worlds is one of the best maps to come out of the Unreal Tournament series, and arguably one of the best multiplayer maps ever. A pitched battle between two towers, the map was open and terrifying. Mounting an assault meant you were exposed to enemy snipers and ground troops, a feeling heightened by the fact that there were no walls around you, nor was there even a sky above you. All you had was the vacuum of space, looming and licking its bulbous lips. You were so naked and afraid that the show Naked And Afraid ought to be paying royalties to Epic Games.

Recently, one unnamed modder ported the Unreal Tournament 1999 map into Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and another, who goes by the handle Jeisen cleaned it up (it was apparently "horrible" before) and put it on the Steam Workshop. Here's a video of the map in action, courtesy of Mr Error:

As ever, it's bizarre to see a modern-weapon-wielding Counter-Strike man running around such a fantastical location, but that's also part of the appeal. I doubt the map makes for particularly great CSGO matches, but if novelty value was an actual currency, this mod would be worth a million bucks.

The entire UT library has been created in CS:Source a few times by various mappers, moving them to CS:GO isnt hard at all.
Some of the Halo maps are pretty fun in CS

but does it have the epic voiceover commentary?? probably not...

but nothing beats the euphoria and fear you feel as you crest that ridge in the center...

If you can't fly a rocket under the map to the opposing sniper what is the point?

    Come play Halo 5.

The community ia always building maps from other games and gametypes to suit the homage.

We have had facing worlds for quite a while now ✌

I've always (like, since '99) thought that Facing Worlds was one of the worst maps in UT. Never understood the hype in the slightest.

Saying that I never really played CTF. Usually played FFA-DM or Assault

I vehemently disagree with you but respect your right to your own opinion.
Facing worlds is still the best tho.
