It’s been eight years since the last Toy Story film, one of the best animated films of all time. Next year, the franchise will finally continue.

Pixar confirmed the new Toy Story sequel would launch in mid 2019, nine years after Toy Story 3 hit theatres. The international release is currently scheduled for June 21, although as is often the case that date could vary wildly locally.

Disney president Jim Morris said in an interview a few years ago that Toy Story 4 wouldn’t be a part of the original trilogy, although he then clarified that he didn’t know if the original trilogy would be clarified. “It will be a romantic comedy. It will not put much focus on the interaction between the characters and children. I think it will be a very good movie,” a translation from Slashfilm reads.

Toy Story 4 was originally supposed to hit cinemas in 2017, but was delayed into 2018. It’s release was then swapped with The Incredibles 2, production of which was then accelerated according to the Hollywood Reporter.
