Disenchantment, Matt Groening’s Netflix Cartoon, Is Looking Great

Image: IMDB

The upcoming fantasy animated series from Simpsons creator Matt Groening drops next month. And as you’d expect, Netflix showed off the official trailer at Comic-Con.

The series revolves on a “hard drinking” princess – Bean – who accidentally flees after a planned wedding that goes horribly wrong. She ends up on a soul-searching journey through Dreamland with a personal demon and a gremlin-esque elf. It’s laced with the kind of humour you’d expect from Groening, while having a crack on high fantasy tropes.

The mix of 2D art and the CG backdrops looks really neat, so I’m keen to see how much of that is employed. Also, anything that takes the piss out of Game of Thrones works for me. The first 10 episodes of Disenchantment will drop on August 17, with the rest to be released at a later date. There’s more info over at the official Netflix page.
