Qiaobiluo Dianxia, also known as “Your Highness Qiaobiluo,” was racking up followers and donations on DouYu, a Chinese live-streaming platform. The photos she uploaded and the short clips she posted showed a young woman, leading her growing number of fans to think this was her. It was not.

Here are some of the photos Qiaobiluo uploaded, leading to those assumptions:

As noted by Asia One, when she streamed, she would not show her face.

Your Highness Qiaobiluo had a following of 130,000 on DouYu, but some of them wanted to know more about the streamer. The Paper reports that she said she would meet her fans in real life for 100,000 yuan ($21,205).

Late last week, during a live-stream with a vlogger named Qingzi (on the left), Qiaobiluo’s face was covered with a cartoon image.

According to Global News, the 58-year-old said, “I can’t show my face until I receive gifts worth 100,000 yuan. After all, I’m a good-looking host.” Her fans started coughing up donations.

During the joint stream, the graphic covering her face vanished, and Qingzi seemed to be unsure what was going on, with the conversation awkwardly continuing.

Your Highness Qiaobiluo didn’t realise the glitch happened until her fans started bolting from the stream.

The incident made the TV news in China.

Some fans called this “fraud,” but others pointed out that it’s not uncommon for live streamers to enhance their looks, whether that’s makeup or advanced filters. Then, there were some who said that this is what people who donate to streamers deserve.

Your Highness Qiaobiluo ended up getting an outpouring of support after the incident, racking up well over half a million followers and becoming the most-searched streamer on DouYu. Fans now call her “Granny.” She’s back to streaming and says she’s becoming a rapper. Talk about hustle.

Comments

Ooooooh, when I read this one elsewhere I thought it was the one on the left.

She then became a rapping granny is the only true way to end an article.

"Your Highness Qiaobiluo didn’t realise the glitch happened until her fans started bolting from the stream."
    felt bad, but then
"Your Highness Qiaobiluo ended up getting an outpouring of support after the incident, racking up well over half a million followers and becoming the most-searched streamer on DouYu."

What's the moral of this story, kids? Sometimes, things happen.

Was that an approximate Simpsons reference at the end? If so, very good.

You know, I think it might've been, unintentionally.

The verbatim quote is: "Maybe there is no moral. Maybe it's just a bunch of stuff that happened." But close enough!

I wonder whether they're the same fans? Did all the thirsty young guys leave but get replaced by older people, or possibly women? It could be that she gets a better quality of fans as a result. People interested in what she's doing not just horndogs.

Yes.. Because it was those horndogs that made her essentially commit fraudulent behaviour.

According to Global News, the 58-year-old said, “I can’t show my face until I receive gifts worth 100,000 yuan. After all, I’m a good-looking host.”

You obviously didn't read the article

I think they were horndogs, but she was also acting unscrupulously.

No doubt, but she definitely chose to invite such people onto her stream, they were obviously her target. My point to the comment or was just that.

The commenter clearly didn't read the article, going by his rather stupid comment

Of course I read the article. I didn't say she anything about her behaviour (which is no different to a huge chunk of streamers who are in it just for the money). I just said her fans were thirsty.

It's still a valid point, I wonder whether the demographic of her viewers has changed.

If you did, you'd realise the whole premise of the channel was to extract what money she could from said "horndogs" she said as much with the whole "if I get X money, I'll reveal my face".

She was playing the third because she knew she could get money out of it. That was the purpose of her channel. She'll find soon that the people who rallied to support her will fall away quickly when they realise she offers no valid content.

lol, serves them right, their lucky it wasn't a old saggy granny.
