This October has been a mammoth of a month for anime releases, with some of the most anticipated releases of the year dropping now. With so many releases coming out, it’s definitely been hard to keep up with all the fire new releases. Whether you’re new to anime, or a seasoned veteran, these shows are sure to grab your attention.

To help you stay on top of the best of what’s coming out, we’ve compiled a list of the biggest releases.

Chainsaw Man

Probably one of the most hype releases of this year. Chainsaw Man arguably has become one of the most iconic new IPs in manga these past two years, earning plenty of acclaim from critics and selling up to 16 million copies as of September this year.

Denji is a teenage boy living with a Chainsaw Devil named Pochita. Due to the debt his father left behind, he has been living a rock-bottom life while repaying his debt by harvesting devil corpses with Pochita.

One day, Denji is betrayed and killed. As his consciousness fades, he makes a contract with Pochita and gets revived as “Chainsaw Man” – a man with a devil’s heart.

I am so keen to see how the anime showcases some of the gruesome fights in the series. One thing for sure though, it’s definitely gonna be visual spectacle and according to early reviews, the hype is definitely warranted.

If you haven’t seen it yet, Crunchyroll has actually put up a massive Chainsaw Man mural in Caledonian Lane in Melbourne you can check out throughout October!

Mob Psycho 100 Season III

Mob Psycho 100 is returning for what might be its final season. This series has been filled with some amazing psychological horror, but also great wholesome and hilarious moments. While that description makes it sound like I should be in a straightjacket, promise me when I say the series nails its tone and balance!

Kageyama Shigeo, a.k.a “Mob,” is a boy who has trouble expressing himself, but who happens to be a powerful esper. Mob is determined to live a normal life and keeps his Esper suppressed. But when his emotions surge to a level of 100%, something terrible happens to him. As he’s surrounded by false espers, evil spirits, and mysterious organisations, what will Mob think? What choices will he make? The anime is based on the original story by ONE, the idol of the webcomic world and creator of One-Punch Man.

My Hero Academia Season 6

For those unfamiliar with My Hero Academia, my personal pitch would be if you took the premise of Encanto and put it in the Marvel universe. If you’re a huge fan of One Punch Man and its parody of superhero movies, I’d definitely recommend My Hero Academia.

Izuku has dreamt of being a hero all his life – a lofty goal for anyone, but especially challenging for a kid with no superpowers. That’s right, in a world where eighty per cent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that’s not enough to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies.

The sixth season has just started streaming on Crunchyroll, so be sure to follow along as episodes drop weekly!

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations

It’s been over half a decade since the Naruto anime series finished, and 2022 is Naruto’s 20th anniversary. The franchise is still kicking however and keeping all of us fed good. If you miss the feel-good start of the original Naruto franchise, you’ll definitely find yourself recapturing that early ninja nostalgia.

The life of the shinobi is beginning to change. Boruto Uzumaki, son of Seventh Hokage Naruto Uzumaki, has enrolled in the Ninja Academy to learn the ways of the ninja. Now, as a series of mysterious events unfolds, Boruto’s story is about to begin.

One of the most charming and surprising releases we’ve had this year! The first half of the season premiered in April and now we’re finally getting the second half. This series really snuck up on me, however, SPY x FAMILY is actually one of the best-selling manga of all time!

World peace is at stake and secret agent Twilight must undergo his most difficult mission yet – pretend to be a family man. Posing as a loving husband and father, he’ll infiltrate an elite school to get close to a high-profile politician. He has the perfect cover, except his wife’s a deadly assassin and neither knows each other’s identity. But someone does, his adopted daughter who’s a telepath.

After a disastrous defeat at the 2018 World Cup, Japan’s team struggles to regroup. But what’s missing? An absolute Ace Striker, who can guide them to the win. The Japan Football Union is hell-bent on creating a striker who hungers for goals and thirsts for victory, and who can be the decisive instrument in turning around a closing match.

They’ve gathered 300 of Japan’s best and brightest youth players. Who will emerge to lead them and will they be able to out-muscle and out-ego everyone who stands in their way?

Beast Tamer

Rein, a beast tamer who fights with the help of animals, has been a member of his hero’s party for the longest time. However, unbeknownst to him, he was actually dragging down his teammates as he had no other abilities to offer them.

After being kicked out of his party, Rein no longer wanted anything to do with saving the world and decided to live for himself, setting out to become an adventurer. He would eventually meet a girl from the cat tribe, who turns out to be the strongest of the tribe, forming a close bond together. Meanwhile, the hero’s original party continues their quest to save the world, unaware they were only able to fight the Demon King’s army all along because of Rein’s power.

Uzaki-Chan Wants To Hang Out! Season 2

For fans looking for a wholesome slice of life like Komi Can’t Communicate, this series is for you.

University student Shinichi Sakurai is comfortable being an introverted loner and doesn’t care what others think. Buxom underclassman Hana Uzaki doesn’t understand this one bit. A tornado of joy, she’s taken it upon herself to make him more social.

Starting to enjoy her company, he’d concede that they’re friends. Can it be possible to have as much fun with another person as he would by himself?

To Your Eternity Season 2

In the beginning, an “orb” is cast onto Earth and can only do two things: change into the form of the thing that stimulates “it”, and come back to life after death. “It” morphs from orb to rock, then to wolf, and eventually to a boy, but roams about like a newborn who knows nothing.

As a boy, “it” becomes Fushi. Through encounters with human kindness, Fushi not only gains survival skills but grows as a person. But his journey is darkened by the inexplicable and destructive enemy Nokker that threatens those around him.

Shinobi no Ittoki

Ittoki Sakubara was an ordinary student until his life was turned upside down. He finds out he is the 19th heir of the famous Iga Ninjas. The Iga must try to defend what is theirs from the Koga, a rival clan seeking to end Ittoki’s life. Ittoki is left with no choice but to become a shinobi that’s strong enough for not only protect himself but also his village.

Now a student at Kokuten Ninja Academy, a high school specialising in shinobi techniques, Ittoki learns the way of the modern-day ninja, equipped with high-tech suits and gadgets. Together with students from other villages, Ittoki clashes with the Koga in an attempt to end the rivalry once and for all.
