I was really hoping there wouldn’t be an official physical video game product based on the upcoming live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, if only to avoid seeing these ugly mugs on store shelves.
Coming in August from Activision, the company that’s made a name for itself for releasing average Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video games, comes another one. This one is a third-person action game which pits Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo and Raphael against the forces of mutants, robots, Baxter Stockman and the Foot Clan.
It’s a beat-em up, but with experience points and character upgrades, just like grandma used to make.
From the looks of these first screens, players will be able to switch between the four turtles on the fly. It also looks like Raph and Donnie are wearing horrible hairpieces, and Mikey is wearing lipstick.
Here we see the turtles fighting against the former lead guitarist for Guns N’ Roses.
Before you dismiss this game as a worthless movie tie-in, consider this: the game is being developed by Magic Pockets, the studio behind Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance (GBA version) and at least eight different titles in Ubisoft’s Imagine line. Make of that what you will.

After the Legend of Korra/Platinum Games announcement, it would be nice if more licensed games would be developed by companies with a better track record…
Like maybe a Team Ninja/TMNT game could be cool. They could even go bonkers and do their thang with April’s boobs…
This looks like pure unrelenting sweaty garbage that noone should ever play.
So a great tie-in for the movie that looks like pure unrelenting sweaty garbage that noone should ever watch?
More like a terrible tie-in for a terrible movie that looks like pure unrelenting sweaty garbage that noone should ever watch. Ever.
What faith should I have in a movie tie-in game that is only coming out on the 3DS? I’m going to go with none.
Though that said, back with the last TMNT movie the GBA game was said to be quite good, far better than any other version.
I got it cheap and it was alright I guess, not that big a fan. But solid enough I suppose 😛
Oh hey there were the Thor games too. All of them were supposed to be crap except for the “lowly” DS version, which was quite solid. GG, WayForward.
3DS versions are usually different from the version that will come out on the XBoxes and PS’s. The Wii U may have the same as the other consoles or a different direction.
A tactical turn-based RPG using the TMNT license would be pretty cool. One day…. one day
Just give me a remake of the original arcade game please.
this times a million.
