If you’re still waiting for Lapras to land in your Pokemon GO PokeDex, it might be your lucky day. Pokemon GO announced its new Water Festival event today, which will increase select water spawns globally.
Pokemon GO
Totodile, Squirtle, Magikarp and others will appear more often after 7AM AEDT for the next week. To celebrate, your trainer will now be outfitted with a Magikarp hat, which surely will not get them beat up at school.
Also, Pokemon GO patched a feature that had players pretty excited. When you hit a seven-day streak with PokeStops, you’ll now receive a random item for evolving Pokemon. With the glacial pace Pokemon GO‘s updates move, ramping up evolution was a good decision.

Thank God. Lapras was one of the last of the original Pokemon I still needed (not counting region specific) and I live near the water.
Also, I was surprised when it said that they’d changed the 7-day reward to give an evolution item as I already thought that was the case. The last 3 7-day streaks have given me a metal coat, kings rock & upgrade. Guess I was just lucky. *shrugs*
Yes, you were lucky. I’ve had two streaks with nothing but have gotten them through regular hacking (sorry, spinning – ingress lingo keeps creeping in). Still need a few more and this will be a nice way to ensure I am getting something.
Lapras was also my last one, friend notified me of one across the city and I got there about a minute before it despawned. Phew. Never seen once since or hatched, and I’ve not been shy about using incubators from time to time.
I’ve been playing 7 day streaks since Gen2 and haven’t gotten any stones (out of 5 or 6 streaks) so it hasn’t been the case.
