In Fullmetal Alchemist, the characters Edward Elric, Riza Hawkeye and Winry Rockbell all have blond hair. But in the upcoming live-action film, only two of them do. Winry, instead, has brown.

Here’s how Winry‘s locks compare.

And how it looks in the movie:

Some fans seem baffled. Why only change one of the characters with blond hair to brown?
I wonder why they didn’t give Winry blonde hair in the live action when Ed and Riza do (???)

Okay but like… they gave Rita blonde hair. Edward has blond hair.
WHY TF DOES WINRY HAVE BROWN HAIR?

Perhaps the filmmakers thought Winry having brown hair would be a way to make her stand out in the movie?

The outrage over Winry’s lack of blonde hair!!!…
I mean let’s all ignore the fact I’m pretty sure Winry, Ed and essentially most of the people in FMA are supposed to be westerners (considering they actually went to the trouble of creating an eastern alchemy to portray an Asian style of alchemy…)
I wasn’t going to watch this film student production anyway.
It looks like a pretty dumpster tier adaption, so this isn’t surprising.
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Isn’t there a better way to articulate your displeasure with something than using a pejorative stereotype?
I like it! Cause Elric looks like he transmuted his hair with pure bleach!
The CGI cat is what is disturbing me…
