My background music of choice for any board game session is Lin-Manuel Miranda’s How Far I’ll Go, but I know not everyone’s a fan. Heck, it’s probably the last thing you want blasting during a tense session of Seasons or, er, Munchkin (great for SeaFall though). That’s when Melodice comes to the rescue, a neat little site that will generate — and play — a selection of game-appropriate tunes.
There’s nothing super fancy going on in the background with Melodice. You type in the name of a board game, be it Firefly, Settlers of Catan or even Axis & Allies: 1914 (above) and Melodice will scrape YouTube for relevant songs and create a playlist.
Sometimes the results are entirely unsurprising, such as the Firefly or Serenity OSTs. In the case of Axis & Allies, you’ll get more far-reaching music from sources such as Medal of Honor or Call of Duty.
So, if you need some ambience for your next token-based social gathering, don’t just sit there in awkward silence as Austria-Hungary invades Poland — hit up Melodice and give your speakers a workout.

I need to find a decent ambient music system for our D&D campaign. Would this be any good with it?
If your campaign has a particular theme, and you can match it up with a board game, sure.
