   so that they can re-create the game not as it actually was but as the players remember it.
   What does this even mean? If they’re going to rebalance it or something just say so, otherwise the game I remember is what I played back in the 90s.

         I’m assuming it’s somewhat similar to the discussions they had around the anniversary editions of the Halo games.

         To paraphrase, the basic point was that we tend to remember games as being better looking than they were. We might remember that a game had the dumbest map, or that it suffered from an obtuse control scheme… but we don’t really remember that it looked like arse, because everything looked like that at the time.

            This is so true. Someone got a hold of the Goldeneye HD game and put a video on Youtube. Exactly like I remembered. Then they hit the button to switch to original graphics. Oh……

      Think about the fond memories of games like Goldeneye 64 vs the actual experience of playing it again in the wake of all of the FPS control improvements that have happened since. I guess that’s what they’re talking about.

      What about things like build queues, didn’t the first game not have them? Seems like the sort of thing you’d want in a remastered edition of the game, right?

         Well yeah, but that’s not how I remember the game either, because I remember it didn’t have build queues.

            Memories aren’t photographic, you don’t remember every little detail, you remember the way the game made you feel. Surely you can understand where i’m coming from?

            I pulled that example cause i’d actually much prefer that they added build queues if I was playing the game today. Sometimes things should be changed.

               The issue I have is that if they were going to modify the game to modernise it, then they should just say so – and I don’t see how adding build queues or UI tweaks could delay the game.

               Stating that they’re changing it to how “players remember it” doesn’t sound promising at all, because if they were really doing that, there’s nothing to change.

               I don’t know much about game development, but I’ve had enough people assume the difficulty of elements of my job to know that it’s foolish to do so about anyone else’s.

               Let’s just see what happens rather than jump to conclusions, shall we? It’s a 20 year old game: a delay isn’t really the big deal it’s being made out to be.

      Bit late to the party, but I’d say it means they’re tweaking and reworking certain aspects to make it a bit more modern.

      Games don’t always age well with time – specifically when it comes to control schemes, movement etc.

      We might all have nostalgic memories of playing these games as kids, but we don’t tend to remember the clunky controls or bad graphics. Simply because at the time, the controls weren’t clunky and the graphics weren’t bad – based on the standards of the time. I remember thinking as a kid how realistic the graphics in CS 1.6 looked, can’t really say that these days.

   Probably some bs relating to nostalgia… So the game will be different but then they can argue but this is how we remember it being.

   Probably were accidentally going to release a game without Micro transactions.
   Need to re-work it so they can have add some sort of loot box system.
