Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, coming to Nickelodeon in the US September 17, reunites Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello and Michelangelo to fight new enemies with a brand new style, a shockingly overqualified voice cast, and a brand new trailer, too.
Alongside the energetic, visually distinct animation style, the voice cast here is a huge draw: Ben Schwartz from Parks and Recreation as Leonardo, Josh Brener (Silicon Valley) as Donatello, Brandon Mychal Smith (You’re the Worst) as Michelangelo, and Kat Graham (The Vampire Diaries) as the first African-American iteration of April O’Neil.
Rounding out the cast is, among others, John Cena (!) as the baddie Baron Draxum, who apparently wants to turn everyone into mutants; Lena Headey (!!) from Game of Thrones as Big Mama, who Entertainment Weekly describes only as a “giant spider mutant”; and Sex Pistols singer Johnny Rotten (!!!) as a mutant pig named (seriously) Meat Sweats.
Dang, what a cast. The first episode will have a preview showing in the US on Nickelodeon tomorrow. No word yet on an Australian broadcast date. The trailer, coupled with a bonus sneak peek, is below.

That brief flash with the dogs just suddenly reminded me of Xombie. Those were the days.
That was so bad I could feel Eastman and Laird rolling in their graves… and they ain’t even dead yet
I am a ninja turtle fan from way back and enjoy the different takes of the turtles over the years but I don’t feel confident about this iteration of them
It’s been a while since I watched the show after school but since when does Raphael fight with tonfa instead of sai? Did I miss something?
That’s the “how about we take the glowy ones” bit in the trailer. They’ve each got different weapons in this version.
Raph is also the boss now.
i dont mind if they revamp the artwork now and then but boy it looks terrible.
It might aswell be some totally different IP.
