Sony has fixed a “network issue” that was preventing some Vita owners from accessing the PlayStation Store, the company said today.
The issue, which many users ran into after downloading Vita firmware update 3.57, would cause the system to hang on a “Please wait…” screen when trying to access the PlayStation Store. This new firmware update appeared to also drain the system’s battery.
In a statement to Kotaku, sent this afternoon after many days of us pestering them for answers, Sony said the recent problems were actually unrelated to the latest update:
The network issue that users experienced on their PS Vita was not due to system software 3.57 and is now resolved. Thank you for your patience.
Sony wouldn’t elaborate on the network issue, adding that if Vita users are still finding that their battery drains too fast, they should contact customer service. (“If users face other issues unrelated to accessing the network, we recommend contacting customer support for assistance.”)

Wait, the network issue was unrelated but no the battery drain?
I’ll think I’ll wait a while longer before updating
Well, if the battery drain was related to the vita trying to discover new updates, then that would explain it.
Should mention that I did the update yesterday, and my vita seems to be working normally. Left it overnight and battery was still 100%. In fact, nearly 24 hours later, battery is still full.
No, it was after you updated.
Yeah it might be caused by the network loop when the vita is stuck at accessing the store which makes the Vita constantly active and draining the battery.
Wait, so after trying to connect & it not working, people just leave it that way?
Don’t close the app or switch off WiFi?
I usually leave the wifi on mine on. Various actions will cause the console to connect to PSN in the background, so it doesn’t sound that surprising if some bug could cause it to loop on an error and drain the battery.
Well personally I rarely close the app and never switch off the WiFi lol. I have unlimited internet so no point switching it off 😛
My issue is power. I actually use it as a portable, so if I run out on my trip home, I won’t be happy.
Yeah pretty sure the server issue that caused the problem. My vita usually stays alive after weeks in standby. Before they announce the issue I had my vita fully charged and switched on the check if Digimon was in store yet and just standby it next to my bed. Found out battery completely flat in few days.
I’ll see how much battery left tonight when I get home and I will know for sure it was the server problem
Oh! I ordered the Asian cart with English of Cyber Sleuth, never been into digimon, it looks so good!
Well… how come I still cant access the store?
And oh god, the battery drain….
Do we need to do a hard reset?
